About JobMappr

JobMappr is a better way to find jobs! Visually explore job opportunities near where you live, or near where you'd like to live!

For performance reasons, JobMappr will only display about a thousand jobs on the screen at any one time, so to see more jobs use the search box in the bottom left or zoom in to where you want to look.

Some of the data is a little noisy (jobs at corporate headquarters may occasionally be listed at local branches, and vice versa), please get in touch with us if you find mistakes on the map!

We're constantly adding new jobs (literally 100% of the time), so be sure to check back often!

Technology

JobMappr uses many different technologies and data providers. We use Google Maps for the main map interface with 'MarkerClusterer' for the job clustering. Our backend technology is made in Python/Django with a PostgreSQL database and caching with Memcached. We try to use and produce as much Free and Open Source software as possible.

We have numerous data sources, though our job listings come primarily through SimplyHired and Gun.io. If there's another data provider you think we should be using, please let us know!

In the future, we would like to bring JobMappr to iPhone/iPad and Android devices, as well as find international data sources to show job opportunities outside of the United States.

Who Makes JobMappr?

JobMappr is made by Gun.io, a place for independent software developers to find jobs. Although we are greatly ripping off inspired by PadMapper, we are not associated with them in any way.

JobMappr was developed furiously in Berkeley, California.

A Note About Evil

Some of the jobs posted here are for companies which may be evil. We're not happy about that, but we also don't have the resources to individually check every new job posting for evil-ness. If you see us listing jobs for evil companies, please let us know so that we may remove them!
